Accessible for everyone
An accessible toilet with grab rails and stainless fixtures, an ambulant toilet, an accessible parking space and level paths to the door.
Case Study
Transformation
The original Lions Park toilet block was a dated masonry building. MyBuild Commercial demolished it and built a new, purpose built amenity building in its place, with accessible facilities, baby change, a covered entry and new paths connecting it to the rest of the park.
Under a minute from the old block to the finished amenity building: the brief, what we built and the result for Cairns Regional Council.
Project Brief
Cairns Regional Council engaged MyBuild Commercial to replace the existing facility at Lions Park with a modern, accessible and purpose built amenities building designed to better serve the local community.
MyBuild delivered the project from demolition and site preparation through to full construction, services, internal finishes and landscaping. Existing park infrastructure, including lighting and CCTV, was carefully managed so the park stayed open to the public for the whole build. From start to handover the project took two and a half months.
Key Features
An accessible toilet with grab rails and stainless fixtures, an ambulant toilet, an accessible parking space and level paths to the door.
A fold down baby change table inside the accessible room, so families using the park have a clean, practical place to stop.
Stainless steel pans and basins, full height wall tiling and robust finishes chosen to stand up to daily public use and easy cleaning.
New electrical, hydraulic and plumbing services installed from scratch as part of the knockdown rebuild.
Lighting and CCTV were protected and managed throughout, so Lions Park stayed operational for the community during construction.
Upgraded external paths, new signage and landscaping tie the building back into the park around it.
The Result
MyBuild Commercial delivers amenity buildings, refurbishments and accessibility upgrades for councils, schools and community groups across Cairns and the Far North.
