At MYBUILD Commercial, we love working on projects that make Cairns a better place to live and visit. One of our recent achievements was building a brand-new amenities block at the Tanks Arts Centre’s Tank 3 Pump House. This project, designed by TPG Architects and completed for the Cairns Regional Council, is located in a heritage-listed area. It’s a perfect example of how modern design and Cairns’ rich history can come together to create something special.

This project had some unique challenges that required creative problem-solving. Because the site is heritage-listed, it was essential to ensure the new additions blended seamlessly with their surroundings. We also incorporated a PWD (People With Disability) accessible ramp and other features, all while maintaining the site’s historical charm.

Our Approach
To overcome these challenges, our team worked closely with TPG Architects and used a careful approach throughout the project. We hired local contractors and suppliers to ensure the work supported Cairns businesses and stayed on schedule. The accessibility ramp was designed to be practical while still blending in with the heritage style of the site.

The Result
The new amenities block at Tank 3 Pump House is a great addition to the Tanks Arts Centre. It’s practical, accessible, and visually appealing, providing a modern facility that complements the heritage surroundings. We’re especially proud to have completed the project two weeks ahead of schedule, showing our commitment to delivering high-quality results for the Cairns community.
